Coach Jonathan Gess has been the head football coach at Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy (ELCA) since 2007. He attended college at the Citadel, where he started at center for the football team as a walk-on. After graduation, he became an officer in the United States Air Force in 2002. While he was in the Air Force, God called him to surrender his life to Christ. God led him out of the Air Force and into coaching high school football. Through the 2018 season, Coach Gess and his staff have gone 131-27 and won 5 GHSA Class A State Championships and 4 Championships in a row.

Clayton McClure came to ELCA in 2001 to teach English, Bible, and Public Speaking. Since then, he has taught at the high school and middle school levels. In 2010, he  became the Assistant Principal for the Middle School. Prior to coming to ELCA, he taught and coached at Mt. Zion Christian Academy for two years. He graduated from Toccoa Falls College with a Bachelor of Science degree. He has been married to his wife Heidi since 1998 and they have three boys (Ethan, Micah, and Jonah) who all attend ELCA. He and his family are actively involved at Eagle’s Landing First Baptist Church.

Scott Queen has been at ELCA since 1997 and has been teaching and coaching in Christian Education for 30 years. He serves as the Athletic Director, Head Track & Field Coach, and an Assistant Football Coach. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Liberty University, where he played football and ran track. Prior to coming to ELCA, he taught and coached for three years at North Florida Christian School in Tallahassee, FL and was an assistant track coach for one year at Liberty University.
