ELCA struggled at the beginning of their match against Whitewater, falling behind 10-4 deficit before losing 25-22. The Lady Chargers fell behind 6-1 at the start of the second set but slowly started a comeback when Whitewater went up 13-6. ELCA eventually tied the game at 18-all and went on to win the second set 25-20.
In the third set though, Whitewater prevailed 25-19 to win the match by a score of 2-1.
“I think that Whitewater is a really athletic team and they’re a lot taller than our team,” Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy head coach Katrina Hegeman said. “We came out fighting but I think we really needed to finish that game but we didn’t. I think it was a little bit of a lack of focus.
ELCA rebounded with a sweep of Locust Grove by scores of 25-13 and 25-14.
“Locust Grove has a really good program and I really respect their program,” Hegeman said. “They’re a really good defensive team and they’ve had a great season so far, so for us this is a big win for us tonight and we had to fight hard to get it.”
