MCDONOUGH — The Area 4-AAAAA volleyball regular season came to a close on Tuesday.
The Ola Lady Mustangs (32-7, 7-0) clinched the No. 1 seed in next weekend’s area tournament by sweeping Union Grove and Woodland. Senior Riley Cid led the way with 2o kills and 16 digs across both games. Marina Dennis orchestrated the Ola offense with 29 assists, while Allie Sarsany (22 digs, seven aces) and Skyla Whitaker (19 digs) played well defensively. Erid Cid added 13 assists for the Lady Mustangs.
Union Grove (30-9, 6-1) will be the No. 2 seed in the area tournament after bouncing back from a loss to Ola by beating Stockbridge.
Locust Grove (24-15, 5-2) locked up the No. 3 seed by sweeping Eagle’s Landing, Dutchtown and Hampton. Eagle’s Landing (26-11, 4-3) fell to the No. 4 seed after going 2-1 across three matches.
Hampton (10-18, 3-4) and Dutchtown (14-8, 2-5) will enter the area tournament as the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds, respectively. Stockbridge and Woodland will have to qualify for the area tournament from the play-in round.
Area 4-AAAA
Luella (15-13, 5-1) finished area play with a sweep of Druid Hills and Henry County on Tuesday. The Lady Lions will enter the area tournament as the No. 2 seed after finishing one game behind first-place Woodward Academy (25-13, 6-0).
Henry County High dropped its final two area games to fall to 0-6 in area play. The Lady Warhawks will enter the area tournament as the No. 7 seed out of seven teams.
Area 2-A Private
Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy (21-14, 5-1) finished off its area slate with a sweep of Our Lady of Mercy and Greenforest. The Lady Chargers will enter the area tournament as the No. 1 seed.
Strong Rock Christian School (9-15, 2-3) fell to Landmark Christian on Tuesday.
